It was great to welcome Waqas from Packaging News to visit James Cropper 3D Products last month.

Waqas visited to discover the full story behind our sustainable moulded paper packaging – how it’s made, how we’re leading the industry in colour, and how we approach sustainable packaging design for clients.

We were also able to announce a sharp increase in demand, and new machinery set to double our production capacity in 2017.

Chief Technology Officer Patrick Willink rounds up the visit.

“It’s been a fantastic few months since we launched the company at Packaging Innovations, London, in September.

“We knew there was a strong demand for better colour, quality and bespoke design in sustainable packaging – and it’s been very exciting to reveal our capabilities to clients and press since the launch.

“We showed Waqas all the stages in our design and manufacturing process – from how we source materials, to 3D visualization, and of course colour matching. We particularly wanted to introduce Waqas to the James Cropper colour lab and give him a chance to meet our Master Blender, Mark and colour scientist Alison.

Recyclable eco packaging from sustainable sources

“The work Mark and Alison do is so important – our ability to create moulded paper packaging in literally any colour is key for brands. At James Cropper we’ve been developing bespoke coloured papers for global brands over decades, and now we’ve applied all that magic to a beautifully moulded product. It’s all about giving brands the creative freedom they need to push the boundaries of sustainable packaging design.

“We also shared some business developments with the magazine – to meet demand we have ordered a number of new cure-in-the-mould machines to come online in the new year, doubling our production capacity. It’s certainly an exciting time.”
